Two persons sustained injuries in a single-vehicle White County crash that occurred close to the Habersham County and White County border line. The accident took place on Highway 17. The White County crash happened over the weekend and was reported to the authorities around 10 p.m. on Sunday, July 11.
According to the details shared by the authorities, the sole vehicle involved in the crash was just inside the White County line when its driver apparently lost control. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and into the woods. It isn’t clear if the vehicle crashed into a tree or another object, or if it was a rollover accident.
Following reports of the crash, Emergency Services from Habersham County arrived on the scene. Assistance was also requested from the White County EMS once it was realized that the crash actually happened inside the jurisdiction of the White County.
Preliminary investigations reveal that two occupants were traveling in the vehicle when the crash occurred. Both were male although their ages or names have not yet been revealed. One of the male occupants suffered critical injuries in the collision and was airlifted to an area hospital for emergency treatment. The injuries of the second occupant were less serious who was also transported to a local hospital.
Georgia State Patrol is currently leading the investigations. The actual cause of the crash remains unknown at this time. GSP has not yet ruled out speeding or alcohol as the contributing factors. These are the typical causes in single-vehicle crashes.
