One man lost his life in a three-vehicle crash in Cobb County. The fatal incident took place last week at around noon. Other people involved in the crash had no notable injuries to report.
According to the details shared by the Cobb County Police Department, the accident was reported to the authorities just after 11:50 a.m. The three vehicles involved in the crash were identified as a white 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, a beige 2008 Kia Optima, and a black 2017 GMC Yukon.
The Chevrolet Cruze was traveling westbound along Shallowford Road when it caused the crash. As the vehicle approached Lassiter Road, it moved into the eastbound lanes. This brought the vehicle into the path of the oncoming traffic. The Kia Optima was headed eastbound at the time. The Optima collided head-on with the Cruze. The Cruze then crashed a third vehicle, also traveling in the eastbound lane. This was the GMC Yukon.
The driver of the Kia Optima sustained critical injuries in the collision. Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the accident, attempts to revive him failed. He was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. Authorities identified the driver as Andrew M. Halloran, 47, of Roswell.
The drivers of the other two vehicles remained largely safe from any injuries. They also refused medical attention on the scene. Cobb County officials identified the driver of the Cruze as Danielle Erickson, 24, of Acworth.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. The focus of the investigations at this point is to determine what caused Erickson to veer into the oncoming lane and cause the incident. For now, police have not ruled out speeding or alcohol as contributing factors in the three-vehicle crash in Cobb County.
