When people go out on the weekend to have a good time, the last thing they expect is to get shot. Even if people get in a fight at a bar or nightclub, you don’t think they’re going to have guns on them. The worst you may expect to see happen is someone get hit in the head with a bottle. But when people start shooting, the results tend to be disastrous. This was certainly the case in Atlanta last weekend.
Police responded to a report of a fight at the Compound Nightclub in Northwest Atlanta. It was about 3 am last Sunday. A group of people got into a fight inside the club. One man said he was leaving and promised to return with a gun. He made good on his promise.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots. Three of the people involved in the fight were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Another man, who was reportedly shot, took off when the police arrived. And another two men ended up going to the hospital on their own with gunshot wounds shortly after the fight.
Unfortunately, two people who were shot were innocent victims who had nothing to do with the altercation. They were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The police haven’t released any names as of yet. However, for the innocent victims, they may have a potential claim against the nightclub. If the club didn’t have sufficient security, or if their security team was negligent, the gunshot victims may be able to sue for damages.
