Whenever someone’s involved in a tractor trailer accident, there are bound to be very serious injuries. When that truck rolls over and lands on top of another vehicle, you’d be surprised to hear that the person survived the rollover crash. Thankfully, this was the case this week in Smyrna, Georgia.
A tractor trailer driver was traveling near the intersection of Windy Hill near Atlanta Road. It was about 10:30 am on June 25, 2020. The driver lost control of his truck and the truck ended up rolling over. Surprisingly, the tractor trailer landed square on top of a police officer’s patrol car.
There are no details about whether the patrol car was stopped or moving at the time of the crash. However, the impact was so severe, the officer had to be cut out of the car. Shockingly, the officer only suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The name of the officer has not yet been released. We do know he works for the Smyrna police department. The name of the driver of the tractor trailer has also been withheld. Nor has the name of his company been identified.
The police officer was taken to the local hospital with minor injuries. There was no medical condition provided for the truck driver. However, it is clear that the officer was not at fault. If his injuries persist, he may be able to file a claim for damages against the truck driver and the company he works for. The investigation is ongoing. There may even be evidence that there was something wrong with the truck. We just don’t know at this time.
