Whenever we hear that an accident took place at 1 in the morning, it’s easy to assume that alcohol or drugs had something to do with the crash. Why else would someone be out there speeding on the highway at that time of night? Well, for two cars in Cobb County this past Tuesday, a crash seemed inevitable.
A man driving a Mercedes down a highway in Marietta, Georgia somehow crashed into the car in front of him. The car in front of him – a Nissa Rogue managed to stay on the road. The Mercedes actually spun out following the impact and ended up off the road. After running off the road, the Mercedes crashed into a utility pole on the side of the road. Authorities aren’t sure what caused the driver to crash into the Nissan Rogue. This is why they’re still investigating the crash.
The impact was so severe that it shut the highway down for several hours. Thankfully, nobody in the Nissan Rogue suffered serious injuries. One of the rear passengers did have to go to Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment. However, their injuries aren’t said to be life-threatening. The driver and second passenger in the Nissan suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Unfortunately, for the driver of the Mercedes, things didn’t work out that well. When he hit the utility pole, he suffered very serious injuries. He was taken to the local hospital and is said to have suffered what may end up being fatal injuries.
The names of the drivers have not been released. And, authorities are still investigating the cause.
