Drunk driving accidents are almost always very dangerous. We hear stories of people losing their lives in a drunk driving crash all the time. Sadly, that was the case this weekend in Buckhead, Georgia.
The police responded to a crash on Peachtree Road at Mathieson Drive. The accident took place not far from Buckhead Village. It was about 1:25 am on Sunday, October 11, 2020.
The crash was caused by a 30-year old man driving his Cadillac in the northbound lanes of Peachtree Road. He was drunk and lost control of his car, smashing into the back of a Jeep. The person driving the jeep then crashed into three other cars in a nearby parking lot.
The driver of the Cadillac was speeding at the time of the crash. Gabriel Zamora then went on to lose control of his car and left the road. When he left the road, he ran over a pedestrian. He then proceeded to hit two more cars before flipping several times and ending on the side of the road.
The pedestrian, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to the hospital. Sadly, they were pronounced dead by the time they reached the hospital. The driver of the Cadillac only suffered minor injuries. He has been charged with several crimes, including DUI. He was also charged with homicide by vehicle, open container of alcohol and failure to maintain lane. There may be additional charges filed.
The authorities did not indicate if any of the people in the other 5 cars were injured or not. Although, given the circumstances, it’s doubtful that they all escaped getting hurt in this deadly crash.
