Whether it’s because you don’t own a car or you’re just an environmentally conscious person, you may find yourself crossing a busy street or highway. No matter how careful you are, you could still get hurt or even killed. A person doesn’t stand a chance against a car or SUV – especially when they’re speeding down a busy highway.
Unfortunately, this is what happened to a Canton man this past weekend. The man’s name hasn’t been released. However, we do know he was a 52-year old man from Canton, Georgia.
The crash happened at about 7:40 pm near the 200 blocks of Riverstone Parkway. A woman driving an SUV ran the victim over as he was trying to cross the street. The woman’s name hasn’t been released. Nor has the make and model of her car.
It appears that authorities are still trying to locate the suspect driving the SUV. If they knew her identity, they would’ve been able to complete their investigation. The frustrating thing about these sorts of accidents is that it’s hard to find out exactly what happened. There don’t appear to be any witnesses who saw the woman run the man over. And the victim died upon impact so they can’t get his side of the story.
The 52-year old victim died instantly and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released and there has been no comment from his family. In situations like this, there’s a good chance the family of the victim may have a wrongful death claim against the driver of the SUV.
