A man lost his life in a pedestrian accident on I-285 on Friday, February 5. The fatal crash occurred on I-285 in Fulton County and involved a man who was walking across the road after his vehicle had a flat tire. The deceased victim was identified by the authorities as Alberto Henderson, 48, of Baltimore, Maryland.

According to the details shared by the Atlanta police, Henderson’s vehicle had a flat tire and was stopped by the roadside close to the I-20 ramp. He was in the process of crossing the I-285 when he was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The incident took place early on Friday morning at around 2:15 a.m. The tractor-trailer driver failed to spot Henderson in time and ended up hitting him. Investigators believe that Henderson was trying to read a road sign in order to pinpoint his location when he was struck.

The impact of the crash caused Henderson to sustain critical injuries. He died on the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer involved in the accident also stayed on the scene and cooperated with the police. Authorities didn’t identify the driver and it is unlikely that any formal charges will be filed against him.

Following the crash, the northbound lanes of the I-285 were shut down. As a result, commuters had to move off the I-285 at Cascade Road and take alternate routes. This was done so that authorities could conduct on-site investigations and cleanup. The lanes remained closed for several hours and were reopened to the traffic only at around 6:15 a.m.

Atlanta police continue to investigate the pedestrian accident on I-285. At this point, the police are trying to ascertain precisely how the crash occurred. Based on the evidence available so far, it is not likely that any formal charges will be filed in this crash, said a spokesperson for the police.
