One person was killed and another three suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Athens over the weekend. The fatal accident took place early on the morning of Sunday, August 15. It was reported to the authorities at around 4:30 a.m.

The Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound along Acadia Drive when the crash occurred. The driver of the vehicle attempted to take a turn onto Vincent Drive. This was when the Tacoma came into the path of a second vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. This second vehicle was traveling eastbound along Vincent Drive.
The T-bone accident took place at a high rate of speed, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The 2005 Toyota Tacoma suffered more extensive damage. The driver of the vehicle was its sole occupant at the time of the collision. He was identified as Juan Trigueros-Garcia, 27.
Trigeuros-Garcia suffered critical injuries in the collision. Once the first responders and paramedics arrived on the scene, he was rushed to a local hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver and a passenger were traveling in the 2007 Toyota Tacoma. Both suffered significant injuries in the crash and were taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Their injuries are reported as non-life-threatening and both are expected to survive the wreck.
