One person was killed in a collision in Forsyth County between an SUV and a motorcycle. The fatal collision in Forsyth County took place over the weekend.

According to the details shared by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, July 3. A motorcycle was traveling right behind an SUV along the Buford Dam Road. The motorcycle was identified as a 2013 Yamaha FZ8. The SUV was a 2017 Buick Enclave.

Both were headed eastbound along the road when the Buick slowed down. This was because another eastbound vehicle up ahead had slowed down and was turning onto the Timber Lake Trail. As the Buick slowed down, the motorcyclist who was traveling right behind failed to also slow down in time.

This caused the Yamaha to collide with the rear corner of the Buick on the driver’s side. Although the motorcycle only clipped the vehicle, its speed at the time caused the motorcyclist to lose control. The Yamaha then veered into the path of the oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes. This was when it was hit by a Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver of the Chevrolet attempted to avoid a collision but failed to do so.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Tylor Wilson, 24, of Cumming. Wilson was ejected from his ride following collision with the Tahoe and suffered critical injuries. By the time the first responders and paramedics arrived, Wilson had succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

FCSO and other local authorities continue to investigate the crash. It isn’t likely that either the Buick driver or the Tahoe driver will be held liable in the incident.

In rear-end Atlanta accidents like these, liability can sometimes rest with the vehicle up ahead. When that is the case, an injured victim or the survivors of a deceased victim can seek damages with the help of an Atlanta car accident lawyer.
