The police were called to the scene of an early morning multi-car crash in Henry County this week. There were calls of a huge fire along the highway. This fire was the result of not one, but two vehicles catching on fire after the collision.
Police still aren’t sure what could have caused the crash this Wednesday morning. It happened along the Southbound lanes of Interstate-75. By the time the police arrived on the scene, they found three vehicles on the side of the road. One was a tractor trailer. The driver of the truck was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His vehicle was in flames when the cops arrived.
There were two other vehicles involved in the crash. One was an express van and the other was na SUV. The authorities didn’t release many details regarding the people injured in the crash. However, they did confirm that several people were taken to the hospital with moderate to critical injuries.
3 were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. As of Friday afternoon, all 3 still remained in the hospital being treated. 2 others were taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital. According to reports, both of these people had been released after treatment for moderate injuries.
No names have been released at this time. Nor have the specific make and models of the vehicles provided. The road was closed down for several hours and traffic on the exit ramp at Georgia 38 was backed up for hours.
The police have asked witnesses to the crash to come forward to help with the investigation. Currently, they have no idea what caused the crash or who may have been at fault.
