A Bartow County wrong-way crash resulted in the death of a teacher. The fatal crash occurred on Saturday, January 9. Authorities identified the deceased as Shauna D’Agostino.

According to the details shared by the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred when a vehicle driving wrong-way collided with a second vehicle. D’Agostino was traveling in this second vehicle. Her husband was driving the vehicle while she was in the front passenger seat. The couple also had their two young daughters, aged 8 and 6, traveling in the back seats of the vehicle. GSP identified the vehicle as a 2011 Toyota Sienna.

The wrong-way vehicle which crashed into Sienna was identified as a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Trevus Jamaahl Baugh, 34, of Cartersville was driving the vehicle.

Both vehicles were traveling on the Euharlee Road when the incident occurred. Baugh was driving the Hyundai eastbound in the westbound lane of the road. This brought his vehicle directly into the path of the Toyota in which D’Agostino and her family were traveling.

The two vehicles collided head-on at a fairly high speed. The sheer impact of the collision caused the Sienna to be veered away from the roadway and down the embankment. Baugh exited his vehicle following the crash and attempted to flee the scene of the incident on foot. He was soon apprehended by the troopers.

D’Agostino was rushed to the Cartersville Medical Center where attempts to revive her failed. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her husband and two daughters suffered non-critical injuries.

GSP brought a number of formal charges against Baugh for causing the Bartow County wrong-way crash. These include hit-and-run, failure to maintain lane, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and driving on the wrong side of the road. He was booked into the Bartow County Jail.
